New multimedia era

Working on video and animations is, for photographers, a combination of requirement and curiosity.

Basque photojournalist Mikel Aristregi, whom I have great admiration and regard, recently published an article in his blog where he radiographs almost perfectly what happens or has happened to the vast majority of professionals.

The transition from stills to movement is a reality that we have experienced due to an increasingly competitive market or because a curiosity that has been eating us little by little.

The technical and economic complications arising from multimedia journalism is a fact: the professional needs now to ensure that photographs remain still appealing, the video sequences follow a coherent narrative order and the sound is recorded clearly. All this makes our work more difficult and expensive.

But of course. Nobody said that journalism is something simple and far from boring.
