Purity is in the mix

The Spanish music band Jarabe de Palo used to sing in 2001 that “purity is in the mix.” It seems obvious, but we must remember it because it seems easy to forget.

German, 23 years old from San Salvador, arrived in Spain two years ago fleeing the violence in his city. He has been starving and sleeping in the streets for a long time in Barcelona and the Spanish government has already denied his asylum request twice. But now it seems that his life is improving. He is studying to become a social worker and he got some small jobs that help him survive. But the most surprising thing is that after this adaptation time he speaks fluent Catalan and has actively participated in the construction of the best ‘castells’ (human towers) with the group Saballuts in Sabadell (Catalonia).

This world is undoubtedly a labyrinth that gives solutions as rich as this one. And it’s enough with the boring clichés about immigration.
